SPP Design directions of 2024

1. Rethinking Materials 

Objective: 

Conduct extensive research to identify, source, and test innovative yarns using seamless and circular technology. Yarns that for example could be researched and explored are bio-based materials, chemical recycling, regenerated cellulose fibers,, smart fibers etc.

Fashion & Sustainability

Aligned with global ecological concerns, maximize the utilization of sustainable materials, foster circular clothing development, and contribute to a fashionable and eco-friendly future.

Deliverables:

• A compelling series of swatch + stitch collections with a created digital guideline for at least two material concepts
• Best practices and lessons learned on integrating new yarn innovations in seamless & circular knitting.
• Practical guidance on implementing results into production, along with resource requirements for optimization and market delivery.
• A concise sustainable business canvas model outlining envisioned next steps for the material collection and how Santoni can provide support.
• Storytelling content for publication on Santoni platforms and Materialliance.
• Portfolio of work showcasing creations in the Materialliance creator tool.

 

2. Rethinking Process 

Objective: 

Revamp the current seamless & circular design and development process, exploring innovative possibilities and opportunities. This includes revisiting tube shapes, incorporating digital design in workflows, and envisioning new partnership models.

Tradition & Innovation

Strive for a profound integration of traditional culture with advanced seamless knitting technology, designing modern clothing infused with traditional charm.

Deliverables: 

• A novel product concept embodying innovative process flows.
• Best practices and lessons learned from adopting new process approaches.
• Guidance on implementing results into production, detailing resource requirements for optimization and market delivery.
• A concise sustainable business canvas model outlining envisioned next steps and Santoni's potential support.
• Storytelling content for publication on Santoni platforms and Materialliance.
• Portfolio of work created using the Materialliance creator tool.

 

3. Rethinking Machine Technology & Software 

Objective: 

Create a collection pushing the boundaries of existing – as well new Santoni knitting technology.

Sport & Science 

Cater to the national sports trend, emphasizing ergonomics, functional design, and meeting fundamental sporting needs in terms of shape, material, and function.

Deliverables: 

• Clothing collection for both men and women, including underwear, office casual wear, sportswear and healthcare for Autumn/Winter 2024-2025.
•  
• Three looks per collection: one creatively designed and two with practical product characteristics.
• Best practices and lessons learned on new and existing machine technologies.
• Guidance on implementing results into production, specifying resource requirements for optimization and market delivery.
• A concise sustainable business canvas model outlining envisioned next steps and Santoni's potential support.
• Storytelling content for publication on Santoni platforms and Materialliance.
• Portfolio of work created using the Materialliance creator tool.

 

Design requirement:

You should choose one of the SPP concepts: Fashion & Sustainability, Tradition & Innovation, Sport & Science, as the your SPP work develop direction, and explain the reason for the selection and the story that this collection aims to convey in the application form.

  

Designer application requirement:

-    Previous experience and knowledge of the knitted product

-    English speaking skill

-    Strong leadership skill and ability to delegate tasks to technicians

-    Commitment to join the two-month program  

-    Your application needs previous design collections, including design concept, work process and final products.
