The fashion industry is considered to be the second largest polluter in the world, second only to energy production. Around 80%

of its environmental impact originates in the design stage. We believe that we can make products more sustainable by reversing

their creation process, whereby designs result from yarn and machine selection.

- Using Santoni new technology that is 20 times faster than conventional knitting for shoes, which significantly reduces energy and water usage;

- Selecting thermal yarns that negate the need for hazardous chemicals when moulding the shoe shape;
- Incorporating new dyeing techniques that are more environmentally friendly.

Products also become more sustainable by improving their functionality. Creating high quality, functional performance footwear and apparel

reduces the need for a multiplicity of garments. Such products “can do more with less” and serve to lengthen the product life cycle, contrary to

fast disposable fashion. For example, the shoes are developed for the application of adding connectivity to the material-the wearer is able to

incorporate different kinds of chips and access Wi-Fi, GPS and so forth.

The sportswear industry is growing rapidly and in order to maximize the potential, collections

today encompass both performance wear and fashion inspired garments, including both technical

and luxury high-end products. 

SANTONI is aiming to develop innovative textile applications by exploring and researching

new frontier in machine, fiber and techniques.

Q：Please introduce "Santoni Pioneer Program" which is aiming at gathering global fashion talents?

A: Santoni together with SPP team would like to support the growth of circular knitting technology while creating a platform to enable people with different experience to work together for understanding how to create and develop new knitting concept.

 Santoniʼs goal is to encourage and challenge fashion talents to push the boundaries of circular knitwear usage.

 Santoni strives to collaborate with the industry most cutting-edge, creative and innovative designers around the world.

 Q：How does Santoni carry out this program? Is it a theoretical training?

 A:  No, the program has four sections: the first is a “Research” which is more   theoretical , the second is “Concept Creation” which is theoretical and practical , the third  section  which is “Product development” is practical and the fourth section which is “ presentation” is more related to the communication capability.

 Q：What can the designers get from “Santoni Pioneer Program”? What can Santoni get from “Santoni Pioneer Program”?

A: Probably is too early to say what the designer gained from this experience and also what Santoni have as a return, is better to say what we aim to achieve. From designer side, we hope to open a new world for them in order to create more common opportunity. From Santoni side the more important target is to distribute more knowledge for making people who work for creating a new product be able to use our technology in the successful way.

 Q: For this program, what is the next step Santoni will move?

 A: Next step for us is to connect all our activity to the real market. In this way we already start several actions especially inside of the exhibition

  which we are preparing for the next few year.

Santoni (Shanghai) was invited to SPINEXPO New York for the 1st time.

Santoni products are showed respectively in SPINACTIVE area and Santoni Pioneer Program area.

SPINACTIVE is a new market direction at SPINEXPO which is supported by Santoni (Shanghai) and Eva De Laat studio. A true exploration of the “being” of the material in combination with the cutting-edge machine technology of Santoni: the touch, drape and function of seamless and circular knit in active wear.

Final products of 1st session “Santoni Pioneer Program” are also showed at New York successfully. 2nd session SPP is under recruiting.

Santoni as a leader of worldwide high-end knitting equipment showed not only the advanced technology but also concepts for future industrial development which inspired visitors at Shanghaitex.

- “Santoni Pioneer Program” lightens textile industry

SANTONI always takes "seamless machinery manufacturer" as a company image for quite a long time. But in recent 2 years, accompany with global flat economic growth, by the influence of macroeconomic and less demand from downstream, we start to adjust company strategy, from this year, we organize “Pioneer Program” which is aiming at supporting all the “dreaming”designers around the world, stimulating circular knitting technology development through this completed “information & technology exchange platform”, encouraging and challenging fashion talents in order to push the boundaries of knitwear usage.

Santoni (Shanghai) Marketing Director Mr.Tiziano Sandonini said: “garment industry development should be driven by downstream brand and the market, but almost designers inside the industry don’t quite understand the technology and process, a lot of advanced technology is not able to be extensively applied into the market which will block further industrial development to a certain extend. Santoni hope ‘pioneer program’ enables more designers to know knitting technology, we think this is very important.”

All the “Pioneer Program” final products were shown in Shanghaitex, receiving a warm response from the market.

“Santoni Pioneer Program” 2nd session is under recruiting, we will keep collaboration with designers, brands and associations inside the industry to spread circular knitting machinery development and technology.

- Sustainable development practitioner

Economic and social development made a huge damage to the environment, Santoni as a leader in knitting textile industry has our own considerations for environmental protection.

We have two directions, one is machine itself, the other is garment.

Machine: low consumption with high productivity and quality

“To improve machine efficiency should not always be solved by increasing machine consumption”, Santoni TOP2 FAST is a typical machine model which can low down 15% consumption while increasing nearly 39% productivity. This machine is made for low consumption and high productivity. By technology optimization, now recycled fiber, natural fiber and a lot of other recycle material can be applied into this machine to make garments.

In the premise of meeting and realizing real needs from our customers, “low consumption with high productivity and quality” will be an important direction for our machine design and R&D job in the future.

Garments: ZERO wastage

「80% of the environmental consequences of a product can be decided at design stage.」

Research has shown that the textile industry is extremely harmful to the environment, second only to the chemical industry. It has been estimated that design decisions are responsible for up to 80% of products environmental and economic cost.

Base on this concept, we carried out “ZERO wastage” garment by cooperation with Eva De Laat studio to make it come true.

Nowadays, a lot of designers only want to make a fantastic design to show fashion, they never consider how to combine fashion and “environmental protection”. That’s why a lot of cutoff material was wasted. Santoni’s idea is to make full use of one tube fabric to avoid any waste. Research found that cost for making a garment in domestic textile market is coming much higher these years, a lot of low-market already transferred to Southeast Asia, this will push Chinese textile industry to arrive at a mid and high level market. While high-end market is the direction that Santoni is always working for a lot of years and we are quite competitive. Besides, we combine  design, environmental protection and our technology together to create more and more new products into the market.

We insist a long-term development strategy and continuous innovation and we believe this will be fundamental.

Santoni (Shanghai) Knitting Machinery co, Ltd CEO Gianpietro Belotti was accompanied by Zhangcha Bureau, China Knitting Textile Industry Association to visit some knitting leading enterprises in Zhangcha on 26th June. “As a world-famous machinery manufacturer leader in seamless, we have advanced equipment, technology and design concept; Zhangcha is the biggest fabric base in the world, I can foresee a brilliant future if it combines with Santoni technology.” Gianpietro Belotti said. Zhangcha got an amazing and rapid growth recent years, we find a “Chinese Dream” in European Industrial Park, Zhangcha and Foshan.

During this investment promotion conference, Zhangcha street has successfully signed nearly 20 key projects with many companies.

In the afternoon, Santoni delegation came to Zhangcha Dongcheng Liyi Industrial Park together with president of China Knitting Industry Association Shibin Yang and Dongcheng Yili chief.

A group of people and mass media visited some representative enterprises inside the industrial zone like Andongni, Jinhongmian, Dongcheng Liyi etc that are committed to the development of knitting industry, forming a complete industrial chain from design, R&D to production.

Santoni further discussed with Dongcheng Liyi group about park construction and future development, Santoni indicated the advantage of Dongcheng Liyi Park in the knitting industry is quite unique, Santoni has a strong will to enter inside.
